COUNTY residents who wish to check their HIV status have been urged to get a test as part of a national week of awareness.
Testing is quick, free, confidential and easy.
People can live with HIV for a long time without any symptoms, so testing is the only way to know your HIV status.
If you have HIV, finding out means you can start treatment, stay healthy and avoid passing the virus onto anyone else.
Anyone diagnosed with HIV in the UK can access free treatment and support.
Coun Karen May, cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “HIV testing isn’t an easy conversation to have, but it’s vitally important if we are to reach the Government’s target of ending new cases by 2030.
There are many ways to test; at a sexual health clinic, at your GP, through HIV and sexual health charities or by ordering a test online at www.startswithme.org.uk.
