MORE than £1.4million is set to be injected into Pershore on the back of a major housing development.

The £12million Abbey Meadows scheme, which will see 45 homes built just off Rebecca Road, will bring with it a raft of benefits as developers Redrow have pledged to invest the money into the community.

Schools will receive a £173,500 contribution, Pershore Leisure Centre or Riverside Youth Centre will be given £40,500 and £30,000 will be spent on adult recreation facilities.

A play area will also be created for £35,000 and a new bus shelter on Salters Lane installed. The award-winning housebuilder will also pay for new footpath links, cycle way improvements and recycling facilities.

£1.1million will be committed to building 14 affordable homes to meet the needs of the town’s needs.

Darren Tuck, regional director for Redrow Homes, said: “The additional benefits new housing can bring are often overlooked, including employment, support for local shops and services, plus the associated investment in the surrounding infrastructure.

“These measured will benefit people already living in the neighbourhood, along with those who buy our homes.”

Located close to the town centre, the development will see 31 homes for private sale with the outside architecture featuring

the Arts and Crafts era.

The first properties are due to be released for sale in June.
