Cash boost for fitness and play centre

A DERELICT building in the heart of Evesham is set to undergo a major revamp after a Vale entrepreneur was awarded more than £15,000.

The former claims court will be given a new lease of life as Clare Bayley was handed £15,500 from Worcestershire County Council’s Regional Growth Fund to open The Health Hub and Play Cafe.

It will include two studios, a cafe, treatment rooms and offer classes ranging from zumba, to high intensity and even Tai Chi.

Clare, who has spent almost five years teaching fitness in the Vale, said: “The Health Hub and Play Cafe is a dream come true for me.

“Myself and my team of instructors are well-known in the local area for teaching fitness classes at local schools and in village halls and in our new location we can offer a far greater range of facilities and it will help us broaden our appeal to the

community.

“Choosing a range of high quality instructors with a friendly and approachable manner to teach varied fitness classes ensures we cater for both athletes as well as beginners.”

Building work has already begun on the fitness site, based on the High Street, and is expected to be completed in time to open

its doors in January.

The Play Cafe will include a healthy menu and play area for children under the age of five and classes during the day will

include sessions for parents with babies and toddlers.

“Our hub will be a welcoming, friendly place for all ages, fitness levels and abilities and our cafe will be a fun and lively place for everyone,” Clare added.

“By specialising in offering sessions for pre/post natal women, parents and children and a healthy cafe we hope to reduce the increase of poor eating habits and childhood obesity, which has become a very hot topic of late.”
