VOLUNTEERS on Pershore’s Carnival committee celebrated the success of this year’s event by handing over cash to worthy town causes.

Ahead of the AGM, committee members presented the £1,460.88 raised from the procession collection at this year’s event on May Bank Holiday Monday to this year’s nominated beneficiary, the Pershore Warhorse Memorial Fund

Committee members were also able to donated £500 each to the Pershore Talking Newspaper, Pershore Volunteer Centre, Pershore Abbey Pipe Dreams and South Worcester Lifesaving and Lifeguard Club.

Meanwhile £300 each was handed over to Abbey Park First School PTFA, Cherry Orchard First School PTA, Holy Redeemer School PTA

Chairman of the Warhorse Memorial Fund, Sue Cosnett, said: “Thank you to all involved in running Pershore Carnival. I cannot believe the generosity of the local community. I’m so looking forward to unveiling the sculpture on November 9.”

Committee members are now on the hunt for more volunteers to make the 2020 event bigger and better. Anyone interested in finding out more can attend the next committee meeting on October 21 at Pershore Town FC from 7.30pm.
