A POPULAR Evesham car park will close next week for at least three months as repair works are carried out.
The Viaduct Meadow Car Park will undergo a £146,000 resurfacing makeover starting on Monday (February 22) after years of deterioration.
Rather than just patching up the tired tarmac, Wychavon District Council will fully resurface the car park as it’s claimed it will provide better value for taxpayers’ money. It hasn’t been fully resurfaced since it was first laid in 1995.
It will remain closed for a period of time after the work is completed while the concrete cures and reaches full strength, and for the seeding to start growing.
Weather permitting, it’s then hoped the car park will reopen on Friday, May 27.
Coun Richard Morris, portfolio holder for economy and housing on Wychavon District Council, said:
“We apologise for any inconvenience carrying out this essential work will cause.
“However, we felt a full resurface would not only provide better value for money but reduce the risk of us having to close the car park to carry out repair work in the future, causing further disruption to users.”
