Can you help keep Shopmobility's doors open?

Evesham Editorial 23rd Feb, 2019   0

A POPULAR Evesham charity is asking people to help it keeps its doors open, literally.

The town’s Shopmobility unit, in the Riverside Shopping Centre, urgently needs to repair its automatic doors which have been in use since opening 19 years ago.

But the independent, locally-run charity is desperately short of funds to pay for the repairs and so maintain its current six-day a week service to people who need help get around town.

Chairman of trustees, Liz Griffin, said: “We have ordered the replacement parts for the doors to get them mended as soon as possible but we are struggling to find the £3,500 cost.

“So we are appealing for funds to help us pay this bill and keep going.”

Donations are invited via Evesham Riverside Shopmobility on Facebook or at the Shopmobility unit.

The charity has been on the top floor of the car park since 2000 and is managed by local trustees, with a manager and deputies.

It provides wheelchairs, power chairs and mobility scooters for members and visitors to the town, six days a week
