RESIDENTS living in Pinvin are calling for the road surface drainage in Owletts End to be fixed once and for all.
After months of higher-than-average rainfall, repeated flooding is causing huge problems for those trying to drive through, leaving motorists concerned as to what might be in the water.
Those who have smaller cars are worried they will not be able to pass through without flooding their engines.
The residential road, which has dozens of houses and extends round to The Green, also has a farm at the end.
The issue has been reported repeatedly to the county council and has continued to grow, despite a collapsed section of the drainage system being fixed in 2024.
At the beginning of March the water had risen to such levels that county councillor Dan Boatright-Greene (Lib Dem, Peshore) was able to row along the length of it.
Liberal Democrats at Worcestershire County Council were recently able to secure a £1million fund to fix drains that are disrupting road use and damaging surfaces, following an amendment at the annual budget setting meeting.
They have since written to the council requesting this fund be used to fix the drain.
Coun Boatright-Greene said: “As a local resident I am exasperated with the situation. For years we have been seeing the issue grow.
“Owletts Lake grows every year, and the council repeatedly tells us that the drain just needs clearing out.
“This is clearly not the case and more action needs to be taken to fix the situation once and for all.”
When approached the Worcestershire County Council acknowledged the problem.
A a spokesperson said: “We fully understand how frustrating this situation is for residents in Owletts End, particularly given the exceptionally wet weather in recent months.
“Our teams continue to respond to drainage concerns across the county.
“Our jetting crew attended the location [on Wednesday, March 4] and we will liaise with the local county councillor regarding this matter.”
