CALLOUS thieves have stolen hundreds of pounds from a summer fete at a Vale nursing home.

It happened at Bricklehampton Hall Nursing Home, near Pershore, last Saturday when the heartless culprits entered an office in the home and stole £400 in takings from the fete.

The annual event held in the home’s grounds is a joint fundraiser for the nursing home and the village’s St Michael’s Church.

The hundreds of pounds stolen, which would have been used to pay for resident’s activities, was about half of the takings made on the day.

Speaking to the Observer, the nursing home’s matron, Shirley Archer, said: “It was a really fantastic day. There were lots of residents and the families enjoying the fete.

“It’s unbelievable that this happened.

“However, the amazing thing since it happened is the generosity of people making donations. I think social media has really helped with that.

“I only went to the police to make people aware of the fact that these things do happen.”

Anyone who may have any information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 768s of Saturday, July 15.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
