Calling all the heroes for community awards

NOMINATIONS are open to honour the Vale’s community heroes at Wychavon’s 2016 Community Recognition Awards.

The annual awards gives residents who have volunteered, coached or helped others in the district a chance to gain deserved recognition for their efforts in helping to make Wychavon a better place to live and work.

Wychavon District Council’s Community Development team is looking for inspirational stories from people of all ages who have helped to improve their neighbourhood, club, society or community during 2016.

The categories are Young Volunteer award, Volunteer award, Arts Recognition award, Sporting Hero award, Community Project award, Community Group award, Enabling Healthy Lives award and the Lifetime Achievement award.

Tracy Grubb, Community Development Officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “It’s brilliant that we’re doing the Community Recognition Awards again this year.

“We rely on volunteers to make things happen, so it’s right that they should be acknowledged for all the time that they have put in to making Wychavon a better place to live and work.”

To nominate a person, project or community group for an award from the categories listed, complete an application form and return it by Friday, February 3 2017.

Application forms are available from www.wychavon.gov.uk/recognitionaward. For more information or to talk through your nomination, call Tracy Grubb on 01386 565497 or email [email protected].

The Community Recognition Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 16 2017.
