Call the Midwife star to appear in memorial concert

ONE of the stars of the hit TV series Call the Midwife star will appear at Pershore Abbey

Jennifer Kirby, who plays Nurse Valerie Dyer is to feature with the Silurian Choir at Pershore Abbey on Saturday, November 3 from 7.30pm.

Jennifer attended Malvern St James School and was brought up in the village of Longdon.

The concert, entitled, “Reflections on the Unknown Soldier” will consist of choral pieces from the choir and a selection of the First World War poetry read by Jennifer.




The evening will include an orchestral performance of Mozart’s Requiem. The bass soloist will be Andrew Thompson who is a member of the choir of St. George’s Chapel, Windsor and has sung in this capacity at the two recent royal weddings. Other solo parts will be sung by choir members.

The conductor of the choir and orchestra is John Wilderspin and the orchestra leader is George Ewart.
