Cadets’ efforts are recognised

THE ACHIEVEMENTS of young cadets across Pershore were recognised at the 89th annual dinner and cadet presentation evening held by the Pershore and District Branch of the Royal British Legion.

Branch chairman Simon Dudfield opened the evening by reciting the tribute and the Kohima Epitap before branch President, Lt Col Susan Payne TD, BSc, said Grace.

Following a tasty meal, branch secretary Gareth Jenkins proposed the loyal toast and Mr Dudfield then thanked the committee for all their hard work and then gave the assembled guests a review of the branch’s activities since the last dinner.

Before he handed over to Wing Commander Philip Sagar RAF, Officer Commanding No 614 (County of Glamorgan) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, Mr Dudfield was thanked for his efforts over the past 12 months,




Wing Commander Sagar then took to the stage to speak about the 100th anniversary of the formation on the world’s first independent air force, the Royal Air Force.

Awards were then presented to Ordinary Cadet Bethany Cahill from the Sea Cadet Corps and Meghann Williams from the Army Cadet Force.


Cadet Kyle Pemberton from St John Ambulance picked up an award while Cadet Warrant Officer James Rowberry was the big winner on the night with the Adastral Shield for the Air Training Corps as well as an honour for his work as an Explorer Scout.
