AN AVON Street butcher is celebrating after being named one of the top 25 in the country.
Fresh from his success at the Robin Hood Championship in May, Dave Purser from the Master Butcher on Avon Street travelled to Newark for the ‘Champion of Champions’ event at the annual Butchers and Bakers Fair.
Dave and his award-winning Lincolnshire Sausages made the event for the first time and was the only entry from Worcestershire to make it through.
And although he didn’t win, Dave did receive a certificate from Keith Chegwin to recognise his achievement.
“Just to be part of this top competition is out of this world.” he said.
“I am still pinching myself even now, maybe next year now I know I am good enough I will qualify again and have another crack at it.”
