DELICIOUS sights and smells will be on offer in Evesham next weekend as the town’s first food festival takes place.
The two-day event runs from Saturday, May 7 to Sunday, May 8 on Crown Meadow and will feature more than 60 stalls selling a wide variety of food and drink.
Visitors can tuck into burgers, bangers and the tastes of Mexico while also sampling locally produced cheese, cake, pickles and more. There will also be vegan food available to tickle the tastebuds as well as live music and entertainment.
Chefs from the Love Food Roadshow will be taking tasty local produce and showing you how to whip it up into delectable dishes in the demonstration kitchen.
There will be the popular chilli eating competition to enjoy, along with face painting, a fun fair and balloon modelling, AsparaGus, historical tractors and much more.
The event runs from 10am to 5pm both days but live music and entertainment will go on until 10pm on Saturday. Parking will be available on Corporation Meadow at £5 per car all day.
Blue Strawberry Events, the company behind the popular Droitwich Spa Food and Drink Festival, is organising the festival with support from the Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association (VECTA) and Wychavon District Council.
Coun Richard Morris, executive board member for Economic Growth and Tourism on Wychavon District Council, said: “Evesham is a horticultural haven with a wide range of delicious local produce grown on its doorstep but there has never been an event dedicated to it.
“By adding this new event to the town’s social calendar, we are providing a different experience for both residents and visitors to enjoy and another opportunity to showcase the town.”
