Building projects to be honoured

Rob George 20th Jul, 2018   0

BUILDING projects which highlight design quality, craftsmanship and sustainable building practices are being sought for this year’s Wychavon Building Design Awards.

Nominations for the awards held every two years are broken down into the following categories:

* Heritage Award – for the conservation of a historic building or new work within an historic context.

* Home Award – for a new build.

* Home Award – for extensions and conversions.

* Sustainability Award – for projects demonstrating high standards of energy conservation or sustainable construction.

* The Community Architecture Award – for projects that serve the community, such as village halls and schools.

Jim Burgin, heritage manager at Wychavon District Council, said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing some great examples of brilliant design that we know exist around the district. It’s always a pleasure to look over the award submissions to see the creativity, innovation and effort people put into their building designs.”

The awards will be judged by councillors from Wychavon District Council with design, heritage and planning experience, by design practitioners and members of the civic societies. Projects need to have been completed between July 2016 and July 2018 and be within the Wychavon district to be eligable for consideration. The closing date for nominations is Friday September 7.

Nominations should include the name and address of the development, which award the entrant wants to be considered for, reasons for nomination and contact details for the person and organisation nominating.

Nominations can be e-mailed to [email protected] or nomination forms can be found and downloaded from the Wychavon website at www.wychavon.gov.uk/building-design-awards.
