Brothers Peter and James pick up their haul of scouting awards

HONEYBOURNE brothers Peter and James Lamb were among those honoured at a special ceremony organised by Hereford and Worcestershire Scout Association to celebrate the achievement of Scouts, Explorers and Young Adult Leaders over the past year.

The event was hosted by Worcester Bosch at their factories in Worcester and Chief Scout Commissioner for England Alex Peace-Gadsby, was invited to present the commemorative glass trophies to all attendees, in celebration of the hard work and commitment that each individual had shown to achieve their Scouting Award.

Parents and supporters were also invited along and then given a cream tea.

James, 14, has earned his Gold Chief Scout award whilst regularly attending Honeybourne Scout Troop. For three and half years he has shown commitment to the Troop, learning a wide range of skills at meetings, as well as attending camps, parades and volunteering at events.

All of the acquired skills and activities he carried out helped him to earn the nine challenge badges that he needed to be awarded his Gold Chief Scout Award – the highest honour a scout can achieve.

Elder brother Peter, 17, is a member of Great Bear Explorers but has spent the last three and half years helping as a Young Leader at Honeybourne Cub Pack.

He has earned the Platinum Chief Scout Award and Young Leaders Mission Belt.  Peter helped run the weekly Cub meetings, organising games, badge activities and camping with the Cubs.  He also participated in expeditions, first aid and various training modules to achieve both awards.

James, who is a pupil at The De Monfort School, now intends to carry on his Scouting journey by moving onto Explorers while Peter has just sat his A Levels at TDMS and hopes to study Chemistry at university and carry on with his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
