YOUNGSTERS at St Nicholas Middle School experienced their first taste of Shakespeare when they welcomed an interactive, touring theatre company.
Year seven pupils welcomed actors from the Young Shakespeare Company on Tuesday (April 14) who brought ‘Romeo and Juliet’ to life for the 100 eager eyes.
The specially devised 90-minute performance featured plenty of participation from the students, as well as key scenes from the famous play.
Bex Chatterton, Head of English at St Nicholas Middle School said: “Shakespeare can be very off-putting for young people if their first experience of it is dry and confusing, but with the Young Shakespeare Company it is everything but that.
“The children in the past have been absolutely captivated by the magic and energy of their shows, it is a treat and an inspiration to be so close to such excellent actors.”
