A DEDICATED Pershore volunteer made his way to Centre Court at Wimbledon after reaching the final three of the Lawn Tennis Association’s young volunteer of the year.

And while he didn’t scoop the top honour, Pershore Tennis Centre’s Bradley Smith was served up a smashing experience at the home of British tennis.

Bradley scooped the Junior Volunteer of the Year award at the Hereford and Worcester County Awards banquet in October 2017, which was attended by all of the major tennis clubs in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

He was presented with his award by Richard Herriman, president of Hereford and Worcestershire Lawn Tennis Association, and then went on to claim the regional prize.

The club was also honoured when receiving the Highly Commended Club of the Year award and boasts gongs for coach of the year and disability programme of the year.

Bradley was also honoured at Wychavon District Council’s Community Recognition awards last March with the sporting hero prize.

In June 2018 Bradley won the Midlands Tennis Regional Young Volunteer of the Year 2017 and joined the two national finalists in the Regional Young Volunteer of the Year awards in SW19.

“Whilst he didn’t win the coveted award – he did have a smashing day! Well done Brad – we are all very proud of you!, “ a spokesperson for the club said.
