A GREYHOUND and lurcher rescue centre based in Evesham is celebrating after receiving a share in a total food donation worth more than £8,000 from pet food manufacturer, Burgess Pet Care.
During its Greyhound and Lurcher Two-week Takeover campaign, Burgess asked its customers and followers to nominate independent greyhound and lurcher rescue centres they would like to receive a share of the substantial food donation.
Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue was one of six rescue centres across the UK to receive the highest number of nominations and a share of the food donation.
Pip Singleton, founder of Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue, said:
“Thank you so much to Burgess Pet Care for such a generous food donation, which will help feed such a lot of dogs.
“A huge thank you to everyone that put us forward for this; it really helps, particularly when things are difficult.”
Charlotte Varley, communications manager at Burgess Pet Care, said: “It has been fantastic to receive such an incredible response to this year’s Greyhound and Lurcher campaign and we are so grateful to everyone who took the time to nominate the rescue centres close to their hearts.
“For many years, Burgess has donated 20 pence from every purchased pack of Supadog Greyhound and Lurcher, which goes straight back into food donations for rescue centres and we are delighted to continue this initiative throughout this year and beyond.”
Now in its fourth year, Burgess’ Greyhound and Lurcher campaign reached thousands of people and included a two-week takeover of its social media channels to share information about greyhounds and lurchers and what makes them wonderful pets.
The campaign also shone a light on some of the fantastic work being carried out by UK greyhound and lurcher rescue centres, including some of the animals in need of homes
