A TRIO of Evesham youngsters marked their birthdays in style by opening the new Waitrose and Partners shop in Evesham.
Tai Camadoo, who turns seven today (Thursday) joined Penny Upton who celebrates her eighth birthday and Nathan Koziol who turns nine for the opening ceremony at the store on Merstow Green.
The birthday boys and girl joined branch manager Claire Roumph, Mayor of Evesham Coun Mark Goodge, Chairman of Wychavon District Council Coun Tony Rowley and council leader Coun Bradley Thomas to cut the ribbon and mark their special days.
Waitrose has created 100 new jobs and will also launch its Community Matters green token scheme which will see £1,000 shared between three local good causes every month.
“It’s fantastic to celebrate opening our new shop alongside Tai, Penny and Nathan and we’d like to wish them a very happy birthday,” Mrs Roumph said.
Coun Bradley Thomas, leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Waitrose and Partners to Evesham town centre and we know that this will result in further confidence and investment in the town.
“This boost to the economy and the creation of jobs combined with a financial return to the council is why we chose to invest in this store.”
