Birth centre opens again for mums to be

Evesham Editorial 2nd Dec, 2021   0

MUMS to be across the county will once again have the option to deliver at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital’s Meadow Birth Centre, health bosses have revealed.

At the start of the pandemic it was necessary to change the use of the centre to become an area where mothers and babies who may have been in contact with, or had screened positive for, Covid could safely isolate.

The number of pregnant women testing positive for Covid-19 when they are admitted to the maternity unit has now reduced to a level where the hospital can safely care for them in adapted single rooms on the hospital’s delivery suite.

Meadow Birth Centre, run by experienced midwives, offers a comfortable home from home environment which is comfortable and aids relaxation. Movement throughout birth is encouraged and three rooms have a birthing pool available.

Hazel Brookes, Meadow Birth Centre team leader, said: “We are thrilled to be able to welcome families back to the birth centre. It’s clear how valued the centre is within the local community. We have been busy preparing to open again and are so excited to be able to provide this midwifery-led service to families across Worcestershire.”
