A VALE biker was caught ‘pulling a wheelie’ and riding at 80mph in a 50mph zone despite being over the drink drive limit, a court has heard.

Marcus Wood, of Evesham Road in Wickhamford, was also found to have both cannabis and cocaine in his possession after police stopped his Suzuki Bandit motorcycle on the A44 Pinvin.

The 23-year-old was driving out of Worcester about 12.30am on July 25 when officers noticed two motorbikes speeding out of the city.

Last Friday (October 3) Worcester Magistrates Court heard how police followed the pair and saw Wood, who was the front of the two bikes, pull a wheelie which caused sparks to come from his back tyre.

They were stopped by police and Wood was breathalysed for ‘showing signs of having had a drink’, the court was also told.

The test showed he had 85 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. While searching the defendant police also found cocaine and his wallet and a small amount of cannabis.

Wood pleaded guilty to drink driving and was handed a 12-month disqualification and a £230 fine.

Wood, defending himself, said: “I had two pints and a Jagerbomb and I left the pub an hour after so didn’t think I would still be over the limit but I clearly was.

“I smoke cannabis from time to time and I do a bit of cocaine. It’s completely out of order and I have got no excuse.”

He was fined £230 for possession of cocaine and £145 for the cannabis after he pleaded guilty to the further offences.

Chair of the Bench Peter Cound also ordered he pay court costs of £85, a victim surcharge of £23 and forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
