Bid to help Dogs Trust Evesham’s longest term resident find love

Evesham Editorial 9th May, 2021   0

DOGS Trust Evesham is making a special appeal for their longest-term resident, Blaze, who has been waiting for a home for more than  500 days – almost half his life.

The two-year-old Collie Cross originally found himself in the care of Dogs Trust in September 2019. He has been adopted during this time, but sadly, it wasn’t meant to be and has found himself searching for a forever home once more.

Neil Barker, assistant manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said:  “Blaze is an adorable boy but so far has yet to find his forever home. He has been blessed with a super personality and handsome good looks which means all his carers have fallen in love with him. He’s certainly part of our family at the centre but we’d really love  him to find a home and family of his own.

“Blaze is a sensitive chap so his new owners will need to be patient whilst he gets to know their lifestyle and routine. Our training and behaviour team will be on hand throughout the adoption process and Dogs Trust provides lifelong behavioural support for all our adopted dogs over the phone or in one-to-one sessions to help make sure they can live their best life together with their family.

“Blaze has such a lot to offer a family who can give him the right set-up and lifestyle. In time, with a family who understands him, Blaze is sure to form a life-long friendship with his new owners.”

Since arriving at Dogs Trust Evesham, Blaze has seen more than 650 of his canine companions head off to their forever homes. As lockdown eases the staff are eagerly awaiting the day that he packs his bags to start his new life.

Whilst Blaze really enjoys canine company on his walks he is hoping to find an adult-only, pet-free home where he can really be the centre of attention. Blaze is a real fan of the countryside life, so would love a rural retreat where he can enjoy all the wonderful things that the outdoors has to offer.

“Blaze loves fetching a tennis ball and is really clever so he picks up new things  quickly, in return for a tasty treat. He is learning to like the car and working really hard with his canine carers who are helping him with his worries around car travel so for that reason we’d like his adopters to live within an hour’s drive of the rehoming centre and are willing to make multiple trips to see him here.

“He will take time to build a bond with new owners, but Blaze has come on  leaps and bounds since coming to us and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for him in his forever home. Blaze truly is one of a kind and has bags of potential. He will make a loving and rewarding pet for owners who are willing to take the time to work with him, and we will be by their side every step of the way.”

If you think you could give Blaze what he is looking for, or would like to help Dogs Trust change the tale for any of the dogs waiting for their forever homes, you can find out more at www.dogstrust.org.uk or call the rehoming centre on 01386 835840.
