AN EVENING of the best brass band music will be on offer as the ‘Wychavon Sketches’ is played for the first time.
Langley Band will take to the stage on Sunday (November 28) from 7.30pm at The Henrician on Victoria Avenue.
Together with Avonbank Brass Band, the evening will be the first public performance of the piece commissioned by the Wychavon Festival of Brass to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Composed by local lad Dan Price, the piece is an evocation of rural Worcestershire, its history, activities and places.
Langley Band is one of the oldest brass bands in the Midlands and was founded. Today it has 28 musicians, mainly from the Midlands under the direction of Cliff Parker who has been at the helm since 2002.
They continue to entertain young and old alike with its varied mix of music and humour. Over the years Langley
Band have broadcast on both national and local radio many times, including the BBC’s ‘Listen to the Band’ and appeared on TV.
