Beautiful total is raised for cause after spa day at college

Evesham Editorial 22nd Dec, 2022   0

TRAINEE beauty therapists at Evesham College raised £290 for charity as part of a special festive beauty spa day at the college.

The spa day helped to get college visitors into the Christmas spirit, with the chance to relax and refresh, whilst raising money for an important cause in Macmillan Cancer Support

The five students organised, marketed and ran the event, which included a raffle, buffet and beauty treatments at the college’s Beauty and Relaxation salon, as part of their NVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy course.

The charity event was supported by Evesham College staff, Debbie Parry, Technical Instructor and Tracey Hobson, Beauty Therapy lecturer.

Treatments included manicures, pedicures, facial treatments and full body massages, giving students the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with clients and creating a professional environment in the salon.

Students liaised with tutor Sarah Mackins and her class of supported learning students from Pershore College to provide a delicious buffet of snacks, sandwiches and quiches.

Money raised from the raffle and treatments will go towards supporting Macmillian Cancer Support.

Evesham College is part of college group WCG and the college is the group’s base for its hair, beauty and barbering training in Worcestershire.

Tracey Hobson said: “It was a great day at Evesham College – all our clients helped to raise important funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, whilst enjoying a lovely and relaxing time, perfect for the run up to Christmas.

“Our Level 3 students worked very well together to organise and run the day successfully, with the event an important component of their qualification.

“The event was a very effective way for the students to gain insight and real-life experience in salon setting working with the public and they were all confident and professional throughout.

“They created a wonderfully festive atmosphere and really putting the clients at ease – gaining great feedback in return.

“We would like to thank everyone who joined us, especially Sarah Mackins and the Pershore college students who created a delicious buffet. We are looking forward to hosting the spa day again in 2023.”
