Bag loads of rubbish gone

Evesham Editorial 4th Jun, 2019   0

SOME 16 bags of rubbish were plucked from the streets of Evesham as supporters of the town’s anti-litter group continued their crusade against litter louts.

The pick took place on Saturday, May 18 and was the 44th organised by the group who were also joined by staff from Morrison’s supermarket. It focused on the Davies Road and Forest Gate area. For the first time those involved were also able to separate out any cans and bottles dropped and send them for recycling.

During the pick issues with discarded cigarette ends and abandoned trollies were identified in certain areas. The group is now working with Wychavon District Council to develop actions to tackle both problems as part of the authority’s Just Bin It anti-litter campaign.

Bruce Taylor, from Evesham Anti-Litter Group, said: “This was a great success and the general feedback is the area was cleaner than when we have previously picked.”
