THE START of 2015 was made extra special for an Evesham couple who welcomed a new arrival on the first day of the new year.
Kim and Richard Philpott, of Church Street, welcomed daughter Emily into the world at 6.07am last Thursday (January 1) and the 8lb 1oz bundle was among seven babies to be delivered at Worcestershire Royal Hospital on New Year’s Day
Mum Kim said: “Our three-year-old son, Jacob was really excited about Christmas as he understood it for the first time, so we were desperate for her not come on Christmas Eve.
“We were on tenterhooks, but thankfully she held on for a week, so we had a good Christmas and a brilliant New Year.”
Emily’s arrival has a greater significance for the Philpotts’ who lost their first daughter, Sophia, in 2010 after she was born at just 24 weeks.
“We had Sophia for a week in Neonatal Care, but she was too tiny.” she said.
“It was a horrible time, but as we had Jacob shortly afterwards he saved us from going into a bit of a slump.
“Emily is also going to carry on her name as her middle name is Sophia.”
