YOUNGSTERS from across the Vale made a splash for the annual Wychavon Parish Games and the schools main regatta.

The banks of the River Avon in Pershore were lined with competitors for the event and allowed organisers to showcase the facilities on offer at the town’s Riverside Centre.

The venue relies on donations, volunteers, grants and income from events like this to help continue the support and opportunities for young people.

And through selling burgers, tea and ice cream, the charity managed to raise £1,100 on the day.

Centre Manager Alex Mellor thanked everyone involved for their support and said: “We are so proud to host this event each year.

“With more than 1,000 people taking part, it makes it the biggest grass roots paddlesport event in the UK.”
