Asparafest pulls in the crowds

AN ESTIMATED crowd in excess of 5,000 flocked to Ashdown Farm in Badsey for Evesham’s annual Asparafest.

Legendary music group The Wurzels headlined the music stages at this year’s event last Saturday and Sunday (May 30 and 31).

The 70s singing sensations shared their fun vibe and classic country music including well loved family favourites from everyone’s childhood.

Blackbeard’s Tea Party from York, named ‘the’ band to see at Glastonbury 2014, also took to the stage to perform as well as Moulettes – nominated for best band by the Alternative Brit Awards.

Capturing the Moulettes was a huge coup for Asparafest as the group will also be performing at legendary Summer festivals Bestival and Glastonbury.

CBeebies ‘I Can Cook’ star Katy Ashworth cooked up a storm for kids while Easy Peasy cookery offered hands on cooking from scratch lessons with healthy food for children and adults.

The famous Gras was in evidence throughout and UK Asparagus chef Felice Tocchini shared some gourmet tips.

Organiser Tash Daly, said: “Asparafest is growing each year – we put it down to the wonder of Worcestershire asparagus.”
