Evesham Editorial 18th Mar, 2024 Updated: 19th Mar, 2024   0

TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of drink spiking and sexual assault following an incident in an Evesham nightclub.

The men, aged 30 and 22, were apprehended and bailed after police were called to Marilyn’s nightclub in the town on the night of Friday, March 15.

During the incident, Evesham police were responding to a call of two men attempting to flee the scene after allegedly spiking drinks and giving them to a female in the nightclub.

A man had been observed taking a drink off the bar and placing a suspected drug into it, before encouraging a female to drink it. It was also alleged this man had touched the woman inappropriately.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment after she became unconscious.

Further enquiries are being carried out as the two men arrested remain on bail.

This action forms part of Anti-Spiking Intensification Week, where the force will be highlighting the work it carries out all year round to tackle this type of crime.

If you believe you may be a victim of spiking report it to police straight away to give the best chances of capturing evidential opportunities. If a crime is in progress call 999, otherwise we would advise calling 101 or reporting online.

A new online reporting service has also been launched, which offers a fast-time route to report spiking and prompts specific questions to capture evidence for spiking cases.
