ARMED officers around Burford Road were responding to concerns over a man’s welfare, West Mercia Police have revealed.

The force spoke out after numerous reports on social media last night (Friday) of armed officers and undercover units on the streets around the Angel Vaults at about 7.30pm.

Insp Fergus Green said: “I would like to reassure the public the armed officers and other policing units that will have been seen around the Burford Road area of Evesham were responding to reports of a concern for man’s welfare.

“I am pleased to say the situation has been resolved without incident and the report fully investigated.”

High visibility patrols remained in the area throughout the evening to provide further reassurance.

No further details have been released about the nature of the incident.
