A VIBRANT mix of original paintings, drawings, mosaic, prints and cards were on display over the Easter bank holiday weekend for the annual Vale of Evesham Art Exhibition (VofEAS).

The colourful collection of artworks drew hundreds of visitors to Lifford Hall, Broadway over five days including Droitwich and Evesham MP Nigel Huddleston who commented on the ‘really impressive art on display’.

One of the exhibits was a highly detailed watercolour and fine liner perspective of the Abbot Reginald Gateway and Walker Hall by Evesham artist Lesley Brockbank, which was awarded best local scene by the Vale of Evesham Civic Society.

This year, the competition was judged on behalf of the society by members Ian and Pat Stanton, who chose to highlight the work because it depicted the ‘rich history’ of Evesham.

According to VofEAS secretary Louise Carson the event ‘went brilliantly’. “We had a lot of sales, and the artists-in-residence were really well received.

“Visitors were encouraged to watch our artists at work and chat to them about their creative processes. I think it was a resounding success.”

She added: “All the people who exhibited are members of VofEAS so if anyone wants to join us it costs £25 per year.”

A percentage from the sale of each artwork goes to support the society and help cover costs of staging the show.

VofEAS started in the 1970s and holds regular monthly workshops by professional artists.
