Amazing kindness sees a bumper donation to Caring Hands Christmas bid

A VITAL lifeline which delivers Christmas boxes for those less fortunate across Evesham has been boosted with a ‘remarkable’ donation from caring residents of Dumbleton.

Villagers donated 14 large baskets of festive food and Christmas gifts for children and adults, nearly double last year’s total, as part of Dumbleton Village Hall’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Up event.

The annual celebration marks the start of Christmas in the village and kind-hearted residents were filled with festive spirit with their donations for the Evesham-based charity Caring Hands in the Vale Christmas appeal.

Jim Harmsworth Cowles, chair of Dumbleton Village Hall, said:

“This is the hall’s fourth year providing the Christmas tree for everyone to enjoy and the fourth time we’ve supported the terrific Caring Hands in the Vale.

“Villagers’ generosity in supporting our appeal has always been amazing, but this year it has surpassed every expectation.

“Last Christmas, we were delighted to hand over eight baskets, but this year we’re astonished to give 14 large baskets of treats and gifts”

“We’re thrilled to support Caring Hands and their vital work, especially when many families struggle to enjoy a Christmas celebration.

“We’re delighted Dumbleton plays a part in the Caring Hands Christmas boxes and, as a charity ourselves, we understand how important it is that people continue to support their work.”

The village donations were handed to Diane Bennett, community outreach manager, at The Lighthouse, Caring Hands Evesham base, to be part of the Christmas boxes created for vulnerable families.

The special boxes have a mix of festive food treats and small presents for children and adults, ensuring families facing challenges can still enjoy Christmas Day.

Last year, Caring Hands Christmas boxes helped around 500 people and the charity aims to do even more this festive season.

“These contributions will make a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable families during the festive season,” Diane said.

“The thought and care of the villagers truly reflects the spirit of Christmas – one of giving and compassion.”

“We very much appreciate the amazing kindness of the people of Dumbleton and the Village Hall for organising the collection for us.

“We never take contributions for granted, so the efforts of another charity on our behalf are genuinely heart-warming.”

Caring Hands will distribute the Christmas boxes throughout December, ensuring families can have a Christmas celebration they wouldn’t have been able to have without them and the work of the charity
