Aldi planning to open a second store in Evesham

SUPERMARKET giant Aldi are planning to open a second store in Evesham on the current R Sinclair Transport site on Davies Road.

As the Observer previously reported, R Sinclair have secured a deal to move to a five-acre site on the Vale Park next year.

However, the move is dependent on Wychavon District Council planning chiefs giving the green light to proposals submitted by Helical Retail to redevelop the Davies Road site into a retail park.

And Aldi have already been lined up to open a second store there whilst their Swan Lane supermarket will remain open.

A spokesperson for Aldi said: “We are excited about the prospect of bringing a new Aldi store to this part of Evesham.

“Our plans represent a substantial investment that would contribute to the wider transformation of the site, and improve shopping choice for local residents.

“Our store at Swan Lane in the centre of Evesham is performing well, and a new store in this location would help increase our local offering in line with customer demand.”

“Our plans are at a very early stage at the moment, but we will keep people updated as we move forward.”
