Aiming to figure in national finals

Evesham Editorial 3rd Jun, 2016 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

AN EVESHAM woman returned from injury just four months ago to win her first national bodybuilding competition.

Laura White, who trains at the Utopia Gym on Davies Road, came first in the athletic figure category and won the overall women’s category at the Physical Culture Association’s Muscleworks Classic event in London on Sunday (May 29).

Her win now means she’s qualified for the Grand British Finals which are being held at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Sunday, June 19.

The 27-year-old has trained at the gym for the past 18 months to build-up her physique and in preparation for the event the bodybuilder followed a strict 12 week diet plan to become competition ready.

Laura only began leg training again back in February after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and cartilage repair surgery just 15 months ago.

Speaking to the Observer, Laura said: “Competing is something I have always wanted to do but with life sometimes things set you back that you can’t control, but it doesn’t mean you can’t keep working at it in a different way.

“In my case I still trained through out my injury and recovery on body parts I could.

“Utopia gym supported me through out and guided me with training I could do as opposed to couldn’t.

“I am ecstatic to have won my first competition and hoping I can bring a better version to the finals.

“Everyone’s support has been invaluable,” she added.
