Administrators seeking sale of Evesham's Countrywide store

Evesham Editorial 16th Apr, 2018   0

ADMINISTRATORS battling to save the ailing Evesham-based firm Countrywide have appealed for help in their bid to keep the town’s store open for business.

Joint administrators David Pike, Mark Orton and Will Wright from KPMG’s restructuring practice and their agents, Hilco Capital, continue to trade at all 48 stores following their appointment in March.

Store performance is reviewed weekly but given the strong trading performance to date, the majority of stores will continue to trade into May which has created an opportunity for KPMG chiefs to seek further going concern sales where available.

Administrators have received offers for 20 stores to keep the stores open permanently and hope to conclude negotiations in the near future while interest has also been received from retailers wanting to use the stores for other uses.

Evesham is one of 11 stores nationwide where administrators are appealing for offers to ensure the Countrywide brand can continue for the foreseeable future with other stores in Ashbourne, Launceston, Ludlow, Penzance, Liphook, Twyford, Witney, Gower, Tavistock and Chepstow also on the list.

Interested parties should contact Gareth Shaw at KPMG either via [email protected] or on 07740 894721.
