BUSINESS owners in Vale Business Park are becoming increasingly frustrated with the number of lorries blocking the narrow roads and being abandoned for prolonged periods of time.
A recent survey by Worcestershire Liberal Democrats has revealed the severity of the issue and are calling on the county council to implement parking enforcement measures to stop it happening.
Lorries have been reported to be parking on both sides of Millenium Way, Crab Apple Way and Asparagus Way.
Worse still, trailers are being abandoned over the weekend, causing more problems for drivers and business owners.
In addition, litter is piling up in the area, attracting rats, and other vermin.
To try and resolve the issue, the Liberal Democrats said they have contacted all the businesses in the area to urge their drivers to not park on the roads but this had not had the desired effect.
So town councillor Matt Jones wants the county council to take affirmative action to stop things getting worse.
He said: “This may seem like a minor issue to most residents, but these lorries are causing serious traffic problems for those trying to enter and leave the business park.
“I was over there on a Sunday and was staggered by the number of lorries abandoned over the weekend.
“Worse still, I witnessed a learner driver nearly have an accident trying to manoeuvre around a parked lorry on the tight bend of Enterprise Way.
“There is no need for lorries to park here.
“There is a brand-new lorry park located opposite the Volkswagen garage, where the lorries can park up over the weekend, out of the way of the businesses and residents.
“We need to see change before someone gets hurt.”
He is also calling for CCTV to help deter littering to be installed.
The county council has been approached for comment.
