Accessible minibus appeal launched to support SEN families in Evesham and Pershore

A WORCESTERSHIRE-BASED social enterprise that supports SEND families and people living with disabilities across Evesham and Pershore has launched an appeal to buy a wheelchair accessible minibus.

PAL Fitness Community Interest Company (CIC) , which provides inclusive opportunities to become socially and physically active, believes this vital vehicle will provide essential transportation for children with special educational needs, enabling access to a wider range of supportive programmes and activities.

The organisation aims to raise £25,000 to cover the cost of the minibus, necessary adaptations, insurance, and initial running costs for the first year.

Currently, transportation limitations present a significant hurdle for many families, restricting children’s ability to participate in beneficial activities.

The new minibus will directly support a variety of PAL Fitness CIC’s key offerings, including holiday camps, alternative learning provision, a swimming support scheme and adapted bike sessions.

“Currently, transport can be a significant barrier for many of the children we support,” a spokesperson said. “Without a dedicated, accessible vehicle, attending crucial programs and activities can be a logistical nightmare, or even impossible, for families.

“Our minibus will change that. This vital vehicle will provide transport for so many of our essential services.”

PAL Fitness CIC told the Observer that every contribution, regardless of size, will make a tangible difference in achieving their goal and enhancing the opportunities and independence of the children they serve.

“Our goal is ambitious but achievable,” added the spokesperson. “We’re asking for the public’s help to make this dream a reality for our incredible children and their families. Please help us get our children on the road to more opportunities and independence.”
