Academic success for two Evesham students

A PAIR of University of Gloucestershire students from Evesham have been recognised for their academic excellence.

Samantha Perks, 23, from Hinton-on-the-Green and 19-year-old Emmy Badham, from Broadway, have completed their first year of study as the highest performing students in their academic school.

Samantha, who is studying Ecology and Environmental Science and previously attended Prince Henry’s High School, is the second highest performing student at the university’s school of Natural and Social Sciences.

Emmy also went to Prince Henry’s and is working towards a degree in Primary Teaching, finished her first year as the third highest performing student in the School of Education.




The pair have been presented with a certificate by the university for their achievements and have also received scholarships of up to £1,875.

Samantha said: “It was a really lovely surprise – I’m very grateful to be awarded it.”


Emmy said: “I’m really surprised and very happy. I’d like to thank my great lecturers who have helped me through my course so far.”

Dr Matthew Andrews, University Secretary and Registrar at the University of Gloucestershire, said: “It is a great honour to recognise the achievements of this group of truly exceptional students.

“Academic excellence is very important to us as a university, and with the support of Ede and Ravenscroft it is really pleasing to be able to recognise their efforts with a substantial financial reward.

“I hope that these scholarships will enable all the students to continue to focus no their studies and excel for the remainder of their programmes.

“We are truly proud of them, and the way they enhance the reputation of the university.”
