SERVICES to remember the life and devotion to duty of The Queen will be held across Evesham and Pershore on Sunday, organisers have revealed.

Pershore Abbey has invited people to join them for a special commemoration service for Queen Elizabeth II on Sunday (September 18) from 7.30pm.

Following a half-hour service of quiet reflection, the national minute of silence will follow at 8pm.

The service will be led by Canon Claire Lording, who said: “At this time of national mourning, it is good that we can gather locally to pay our respects to our late Queen.”

“As we try to process a range of emotions grief brings, this is an opportunity to unite as a community in our ancient Abbey Church and take comfort from togetherness as our thoughts turn to the state funeral to be held on Monday.

“At this special service, there will be the space to offer our own thoughts and prayers for our late Queen, whose committed herself to a life of service and dedication to her people, wherever they were,” she said.

All Saints Church in Evesham will be open all day Saturday and Sunday for people to remember the monarch.

A Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen will be held at Worcester Cathedral on Sunday at 4pm, with civic and diocesan representatives in attendance.

The cathedral bells will be rung fully-muffled prior to the Eucharist at 10.30am on the day and also prior to the Service of Thanksgiving. This is only ever performed for the death of a monarch.
