A welcome tune

Evesham Editorial 14th Dec, 2018   0

PANCREATIC Cancer UK has been given a £500 Christmas present by the Vale Harmony Barbershop Chorus.

The men’s a cappella chorus raised the money from singing at a Rotary Club caravanners’ annual dinner at the Three Counties Showground at Malvern and at the Victorian Fayre this month in Worcester.

Laura Sutton, fundraising manager at Pancreatic Cancer UK said: “We are so grateful to Vale Harmony for choosing to support Pancreatic Cancer UK and their kind donation of £500. Pancreatic cancer is the deadliest of all common cancers and nearly 10,000 people across the UK are diagnosed with the disease every year.

“The money donated by Vale Harmony will help us offer vital support to patients and families, invest in crucial research to help us see the breakthroughs we urgently need, and be a voice for everyone affected by the disease.”

Mike Gearey, from Droitwich, who’s the music director of the Pershore-based choir said: “We’re delighted to have raised this money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. This year we’ve been celebrating 40 years of the chorus and during those years we’ve been able to raise money for a variety of great causes.

“The chorus is looking forward to an exciting new decade, adding six new songs to our repertoire in the New Year. Any guy who’d like to join us will be more than welcome,” he said.
