THE RIVERSIDE at Hampton Ferry is set to be the centre of family fun and entertainment this Saturday (August 16) for the annual Evesham Scarecrow Festival.

Along with scarecrow making there is a range of free activities for children including inflatables along with a cider festival, stalls and live entertainment to keep the grown ups happy.

From 10am to 2pm, a scarecrow workshop will be open for all budding creators. For a  £5 fee, entrants receive basic materials and expert guidance from friendly helpers who can offer tips and encouragement.

The best scarecrow will be voted for at the King of Crows Competition and at 4pm, visitors can watch more than 1,000 ducks race down the Avon for the Rotary in the Vale Duck Race. Ducks are £2 to sponsor.

George Lack, president of Rotary in the Vale, said: “We really appreciate being able to collaborate with the festival and all at Hampton Ferry.

“The combination this year with the community duck hunt promotion in the town, has enhanced and promoted it to everyone’s benefit.”

Saturday’s live music line-up includes Keith and Kev performing hits from the 1950s to the present day, talented young local rock band The Lizzards and Amicus playing a mix of high energy soul, funk and soft rock.

Robert Raphael, proprietor of Hampton Ferry, said: “The Evesham Scarecrow Festival is about bringing people together to have fun, be creative, and celebrate our community.

“Whether you’re building a scarecrow, hunting ducks, or simply enjoying the music and attractions, there’s something for everyone.

“We can’t wait to see the amazing creations and welcome everyone down to Hampton Ferry.”

The event takes place at Hampton Ferry, Boat Lane, Evesham from 10am to 5pm with all funds raised donated to St Richard’s Hospice.
