A-Level Results Day 2022: Joy for Evesham and Pershore students as results revealed

CELEBRATIONS were on the timetable for many Vale students as the nervous wait for A-Level results came to an end.

Exam results were revealed with teenagers across Evesham and Pershore discovering whether they had secured the grades they needed to progress to life at university.

Among the successes were two students from Prince Henry’s High School who were awarded places at Oxford or Cambridge while more than a third of A-Level grades at Pershore High School were either A* or A.

This year saw students sit exams for the first time after the pandemic forced their GCSE’s to be scrapped in favour of predicted grades.

Prince Henry’s Sixth Form students are celebrating as some 161 students completed their A-Level courses and the vast majority have gained places at their chosen universities.

Among the top performers with three A*s and one A was Nina Reid while Elise Allberry and Amelie Sullivan both notched three A*s

They were joined by Romilly Carson, Rocco Cochrane, Nicole Dickinson, Adrian Gackowski, Olivia Griffiths, Madeline Hedgecott, Cathryn Lewis, Hamish Sanger-Davies, Hattie Stephen, Ryan Thomas and Phoebe Vaqueiro all of whom achieved at least three A*/A grades in their A Levels:

Headteacher, Dr Tony Evans, said: “Our current Year 13 students were unable to take examinations for their GCSEs in 2020 and so this summer’s exams were the first external assessments they took.

“Their grades at all the boundaries compare very closely to the average the school has seen over the last 10 years including the assessed grades provided in the last two years.

“It’s a tremendous achievement, and we are all very proud of them. The resilience our young people have shown over the last two years has been remarkable.

“They are all exceptional, inspiring, and talented young people and we couldn’t be prouder of them.”.

Pershore High School headteacher Phil Hanson paid tribute to his students who, like at Prince Henry’s, had no experience of GCSE exams to prepare them for the demands of A-Levels.

A total of 36 per cent of grades were achieved at A*or A, 65 per cent at A* to B and 84 per at A* to C.

Mr Hanson congratulated all students on the incredible dedication and commitment which has enabled them to achieve such excellent results and wished them every success in the future.

He also thanked the sixth form team of Jason Howell, Zoe Starkey and Jo Robinson and all other staff for contributing to this outstanding level of student performance.
