THE ACHIEVEMENTS of higher education students studying at Pershore College have been celebrated in Warwick.
More than 185 individuals who completed degrees with Warwickshire College and University Centre (WCUC) took part in three graduation ceremonies at St Mary’s Church.
Michael Clarke, 22 from near Bath, graduated from a BSc (hons) degree in sustainable technology (agritech) after three years of studying at Pershore College and has now secured his dream job.
Michael said: “I’m so happy to have this achievement behind me to lead me into future pathways and careers.
“I originally studied a Level 2 horticulture course at Pershore College, then when the agritech course came up it was perfect as it was all about the future of where agriculture and horticulture is going.
“We had a small group of people and we went on some fantastic trips, including going to places like Dyson Farms to see the process of how it all worked.
“I’ve secured a job now down in Cornwall, which there is no way I would have found it without studying this course and doing my dissertation. It’s really the perfect job for me.
WCUC is the higher education arm of college group WCG, which includes Pershore College and five other colleges.
Sara-Jane Watkins, who was attending her first graduation event since joining the group as CEO and principal earlier this year, said: “Graduation is a significant milestone, it’s a time for graduates to reflect on what they have achieved and to consider the opportunities that are ahead.
“All of our graduates should feel real pride, not only for their achievements, but for the journey that has brought them here.
“It has been a period of change and unrest, domestically and globally for students studying on degree courses – headlined with the challenges brought by the pandemic.
“Our graduates have shown remarkable resilience and determination to get to this stage. With their skills, knowledge, creativity and kindness, they are equipped to tackle the challenges of an uncertain world.
WCUC offers higher education courses in a wide range of subjects through full time and part-time options.
