A flippin’ good time to mark Fairtrade Fortnight

EVESHAM Baptist Church celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight with a pancake morning at the church in Cowl Street.

Pancakes were made fresh to order with a range of delicious Fairtrade toppings and there was also a cakes stall and hot drinks available.

The event was extremely well supported with queues for pancakes and standing room only at times.

Organisers said 14 pints of pancake batter were needed to keep up with demand while more than £500 was raised for Traidcraft Exchange, which helps growers & food producers in some of the world’s poorest communities.

Coun Mark and Emma Goodge, Mayor and Mayoress of Evesham, attended the event with Nigel Huddleston MP.

Ros Kane of Evesham Methodist Church provided an extensive stall of Traidcraft foods, crafts and household products from all over the world and Tim Price of Peruse Fairtrade brought a stall of lovely scarves, bags, jewellery and gifts.
