As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Christian communities remind us that hope, kindness, generosity and love are at the heart of this season. This special time of year invites us to embrace these values.
Whatever our faith – or no faith – Christmas is a pause: to notice the neighbour who might welcome company, to thank those who keep services running, and to reflect on the generosity that makes ours a town that cares.
From classrooms to clubs, havens to hubs, festivals to food banks, people act day in, day out to carry forward the hope of a community that stands with a spirit of belonging.
With that hope close to our hearts, I join your town hall team of councillors and staff in wishing you, and those dear to you, every good thing this Christmas and in the New Year.
May the uplifting glow of our festive lights keep alive, childlike still, the magic of looking skyward on Christmas Eve.
