GREEN-fingered residents turned out in numbers to make the second Hampton Flower Show a blooming success.

Around 1,000 budding gardeners and visitors enjoyed an afternoon of live entertainment and competitions on the village green outside the Hampton Farm Shop, off Pershore Road.

For the second year running Bloor Homes, whose The Hamptons development is located next to the village green, helped sponsor the event, which took place last Saturday, September 15.

Family entertainment was on the menu this year, with a new dog show in aid of Dogs Trust alongside favourites from last year such as best male and female bakers and the garden-in-shoe-box competition.

Bloor Homes hosted a raffle, raising money for St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School, with a £150 luxury hamper on offer

The flower show is the brainchild of Wychavon District Coun Ged Bearcroft, who wanted to combine his passion for gardening and bringing the community together.

“We’re delighted with the support and turnout for our second flower show, which proved to be a fantastic day out for the whole family.

“The event is entirely dependent on sponsorship, donations and people turning up and supporting us. It’s my hope we can go on and continue hosting these shows annually.

“Both our shows have been a great way for residents to get together and I believe it has helped new residents who have moved to the village settle into the community. I’d like to thank all the volunteers and our sponsors which helped make it possible to host this second show.”

Bloor Homes has supported the flower show since its inception and regional sales manager at Bloor Homes Western, Wendy Slase said: “Saturday’s flower show was a fantastic event, which managed to attract even more visitors than the first.

“The village green and farm shop were created as part of The Hamptons development and it feels great to see the space used in this way.”
