THE ACCLAIMED Orchestra of the Swan are returning to Pershore’s Number 8 Community Arts Centre with a spring concert series.
Entitled ‘Mozart, His Friends, Admirers & Rivals’, the series will include musical extravaganzas showcasing the best of oboe, bassoon and violin concertos, on Friday, March 11 and Friday, April 15.
A chamber orchestra with its home in the heart of Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, Orchestra of the Swan stands for excellence, innovation and accessibility.
Last year they performed more than 60 concerts throughout the UK and undertook a highly successful tour of China.
Their UK tour featured Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, culminating in a sell-out performance at London’s Albert Hall before an audience of 5,500. This year’s tour will see the orchestra visit Turkey and Mexico.
Emma Bangham, programme manager at Number 8 said: “Orchestra of the Swan’s performances last year were brilliant here. Audience demand for these top quality performers to return praises the excellence of their musicianship and presentation.
“Residents have the opportunity to experience this superb chamber orchestra at their finest, as they explore the genius of Mozart and his contemporaries.”
The launch of the spring concert series takes place tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm, where David Curtis will conduct a flute and horn concertos.
The other two events also start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £14.50 – with a 20 per cent discount for those purchasing tickets for all three.
Ticket holders are invited to come along at 6.45pm prior to each concert for a talk, where they can find out more about the evening’s programme, the work of the orchestra and the performers.
