EVESHAM’s Regal Cinema is hosting two special screenings of Purple Rain in memory of music icon Prince whose sudden death last week devastated fans worldwide.

Fans are encouraged to dress up for the performances on Tuesday (May 3) and Friday, May 13 to celebrate the life of one of the greatest musical talents of an era.

A cult classic which was awarded with an Oscar for Best Original Song Score, Purple Rain was developed to showcase Prince’s particular talents and contains several extended concert sequences.

The 1984 American rock musical drama film tells the story of a young musician who is tormented by an abusive situation at home and must contend with a rival singer, a burgeoning romance and his own dissatisfied band.

Laurence Wiper from The Regal said; “Prince undoubtedly made amazing contributions to the world of music and we are delighted to be showcasing his talent in his debut film, Purple Rain. “Along with the rest of the world, our customers felt a great sense of loss of this legend and many members of the local community asked us to put on these special shows,” he added.

Screenings will be held on May 3 at 7.30pm and at 9pm on May 13.
