HILARIOUS poet and comedian Pam Ayres will be bringing her latest show to Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre next week.
Following the recent publication of her new book of poetry You Made Me Late Again, Ayres will take to the stage at the Regent Street venue on both next Sunday and Monday (September 14 and 15) starting at 7.45pm.
Ayres’ work on stage is renowned for being funny, approachable and sounding simple as though it has been dashed off, but this is deceptive.
Her hair-trigger timing, her eye for the detail of everyday life and for the absurdity therein, makes for an art that hides art.
Pam has been a writer, broadcaster and entertainer for more than 35 years, following her TV debut on the talent show
Opportunity Knocks.
Since then she has sold millions of books, record albums, CDs and DVDs and has been a regular on BBC Radio on programmes such as Just A Minute, Quote Unquote, Loose Ends and three series of her own Ayres on The Air.
On TV Pam has recently been seen on The One Show, The Paul O’Grady Show, QI and is a regular on Channel 4 afternoon gameshow Countdown.
Pam is also Patron of the Everyman Theatre Association (ETA) and is performing two shows at the Everyman next month, as part of the Hobgoblin Cheltenham Comedy Festival.
Tickets, at £24.50 and £29.50, are available from the Box Office on 01242 572573 or by visiting www.everymantheatre.org.uk
