Pirates set sail for Number 8

Evesham Editorial 7th Nov, 2018   0

AN UPDATED version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s riotous operetta ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ will set sail for the Vale in December in the latest show from Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society (PODS).

After their sell-out production of West End and Broadway, PODS will transform Number 8 into a rocky seashore on the coast of Cornwall for their next production from December 3 to 8.

As presented on Broadway by New York Shakespeare Festival, this swashbuckling farce of brilliant humour and razor-sharp wit makes for a great night out.

Chock-full of memorable melodies, it includes the famous tongue-twisting patter song from the Major-General and the cowardly Police Sergeant’s ‘When a felon’s not engaged in his employment’.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe).

Shows will be held every evening from 7.30pm with a matinee on Saturday, December 8 at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £11 (Monday and Saturday matinee), £13 (Tuesday to Thursday) and £15 (Friday and Saturday).
